The final of the fourth annual Scotia Private Client Group Jamaica Open polo tournament takes place today at the Kingston Polo Club, Caymanas Estates, starting at 4:30 p.m.
This will be preceded by the consolation final between the losing semi-finalists at 3 p.m.
The semi-finals between defending champions, the Scotia Private Client Group team and Taittinger, as well as Land Rover and Borgne Restaurant should have been played at the Kingston Polo Cub on Thursday, but had to be postponed owing to a waterlogged field caused by heavy rains from Wednesday.
The winners will meet in today's final. Up to press time yesterday, the semi-finals were in progress.
Participating teams are as follows: Scotia Private Client comprising Paul Lalor (captain), Raymond 'Mitta' Rousseau, resident Argentinean Jorge Donovan (five goals) and young professional Jason Wates (three goals).
Land Rover: James Robertson (captain), John Byles, Jordon Samuda and the five-goal Argentinean professional Jose Lartiroyen.
Borgne Restaurant: Visiting English professional Jamie LeHardy (five-goal handicapper), Craig Russell, Shane Chin and his brother Paul Chin.
Taittinger: Marc Melville (captain), Mark Wates, young Hamish Wates and the visiting Argentinean professional Tomas Gandara, who is the highest-ranked player in the tournament by virtue of a six-goal handicap.
