Stop punishing J'can cricketers

THE EDITOR, Sir:

What's happening in the region concerning Jamaica is a cardinal sin and disgrace. How can you have the regional cricket team consistently devoid of members from the perennial champion team?

If you check the Trinidad Express newspaper, voices there are all up in arms about the resting of Sunil Narine despite having so many others on the team. There's no empathy or concern from other islands for, say, a player like Nikita Miller.

I do not know what Jamaica's position is concerning CARICOM and its members, but it seems something is radically wrong on every front. Jamaica is being punished for being an island of great influence across the wider world. How do you explain the great respect for Jamaica from large developed countries compared to the disparity/disparagement in the Caribbean.

Jamaica should isolate itself in every discipline and regroup within a different sphere. The success of our athletics programme should be of great encouragement for such a move.
