Defining 'poor and vulnerable'

Published: Saturday | March 16, 2013 Comments 0

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Our much-beloved prime minister, in a recent justification for raiding the National Housing Trust, claimed that it was to protect the poor and vulnerable from additional hardships.

What can the Government get from the poor and vulnerable, who already lack the resources to have a better life?

It is the rich and middle class that the Government taxed, and since the Government has not joined the rest of Jamaica in this national sacrifice, could the 'poor and vulnerable' be the prime minister and her Cabinet?
