Journeyman comics Leighton Smith and Kathy Grant will share top billing at the first in the new food-inclusive comedy series, Lady Rennae's Mek Wi Laugh Tuesdays, which takes place at Puls8 on Trafalgar Road next Tuesday .
Both Smith and Grant have extensive experience, not just as comedians, but also on the Jamaican stage.
Grant, who has been featured to great response as 'Tan Di Deh', the country helper on the Ity & Fancy Cat Show, has also appeared with many of Jamaica's top-flight entertainers.
In addition to leaving many Jamaicans in stitches at several comedy venues, Smith has toured United States cities with Raga-shanti and other personalities and is one of the more sought-after talents on the scene.
Lady Rennae's brainchild
The weekly series is the brainchild of Rennae 'Lady Rennae' Garel, who presents the series on the heels of creating FAME FM's first radio comedy show last year.
The show, also titled 'Lady Rennae's Mek Wi Laugh' and co-hosted by Pretty Boy Floyd and Donald 'Iceman' Anderson, earned rave reviews and attracted huge listenership.
The show will see an open-mic segment as well as up-and-coming comedians alongside the established stars.
There will be giveaways, and - in a first of its kind presentation - the night is food-inclusive, all for the low price of $800. Showtime is 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at Puls8, 38A Trafalgar Road and at Radio Jamaica, 32 Lyndhurst Road. There is also a ticket delivery service available at 824-5628.
Lady Rennae's Mek Wi Laugh Tuesdays is sponsored by The Star, Food Delite, Lime, Island Dairies, Cal's Spring Water, National Bakery, Signature Sweetz and Fame 95 FM.
