What's next for taxman? Savings, Cyprus style?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Carolyn Cooper's hilarious transliterated Jamaican of 'Chávez duppy dream Sista P' (Sunday Gleaner, March 17, 2013) states the following: "From unu start nyam out Housing Trust money, tings a gogo from bad to worse to worserer. Wa ago happen wen it done?"

Considering past experience of poor governance by elected officials and with 'big yai an high chest' of our beloved prime minister and her Cabinet, the question, "Wa a go happen wen it done?" is not far-fetched, as the government of Cyprus is currently mulling over a one-off tax on bank accounts.

'Wid our copy-pus an red yai' attitude, the next law will be a tax on depositors' whereby the Government of Jamaica would seek to put a levy on all bank deposits, with the exception of 'di poor an vunerable poli-ticks-ants'. They will find ways to suck our blood and bite hot in our pockets as 'dem luk to si how Cyprus a go wuk it out wi di people dem monie'.
