Local schools impress visitors

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Our long-standing friends from Birmingham, England, Ms Diana James and Mr Phillip Bond, who are guests of Daniel and Sylvie Grizzle, owners/managers of Charela Inn in Negril, came for the first time in Jamaica.

After visiting three local schools - Negril All-Age, Little Bay All-Age and Infant, and Grange Hill High - they were amazed by the principals, the children and the efforts of the teachers to improve the schools and their physical surroundings.

Mr Bond and Ms James are both former teachers. They were particularly impressed by the clean school grounds and how well behaved the children were!

They immediately decided to make a contribution of £3,000 to be shared equally among the three schools.

They both fell in love with Jamaica, but what really mattered to them is the warmth and friendliness of the Jamaican people who love to talk, sharing their experiences in a joyous mood.
