US Embassy introduces new visa-application system

THE EMBASSY of the United States (US) in Jamaica on Monday announced that it has transitioned to its new appointment and delivery service system for all US visas.

According to a release from the embassy, the new procedure is expected to, in addition to added convenience, eliminate many of the fees associated with the prior visa-application process, along with including the additional costs of PIN codes and DHL delivery.

In addition to the non-immigrant visa (NIV), applicants can now pay their application fee by credit card online or over the phone or at any National Commercial Bank branch using a deposit slip obtained on the scheduling website. NIV fees must be paid before an appointment can be scheduled. Also, NIV applicants must indicate their address for passport delivery at the time of appointment scheduling.

The embassy noted that immigrant visa applicants will still have their initial appointments scheduled by the National Visa Centre in the United States. Immigrant visa applicants should register for free DHL services through the scheduling website or by phone. If applicants for immigrant visa require follow-up appointments, they will be given instructions at the time of their first appointment at the embassy.

Applicants are advised to visit the embassy's website for further assistance and details.
