Canada-based Reittie makes Contender debut

After two quick knockout victories in successive weeks, fans of the Wray & Nephew Contender 2013 boxing series are wondering if it will happen again in tonight's encounter between Richard Reittie, a Canada-based Jamaican, and the veteran crowd pleaser Glenroy 'Bumpy' Beckford.

They will do battle over six rounds and the live action will start with two amateur bouts at 8:30 at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium. The television broadcast starts at 9:30 p.m. on TVJ.

In the first fight two weeks ago, Richard Holmes scored a second-round TKO victory over Lloyd Smith, and last week, Ramel 'Sub Zero' Lewis knocked out Lensworth McNaughton in the first round.

Reittie, a Jamaican who lives in Toronto, Canada, comes into battle tonight with an 8-2-1 record and a reputation as a good fighter.

Beckford, who fights out of the Hard Knocks gym in Savanna-la-Mar, has an 8-5 win/loss record and is known to be a dogged slugger. He is making his third appearance in the Contender series.
