THE EDITOR, Sir:

André Haughton's article 'Jamaica should take full advantage of sports tourism' (Gleaner, March 20, 2013) is the best analysis presented on sports tourism product development to date.

After reading, however, one can see the huge amount of work that has to be done to get this segment of our tourism product to at least basic operation.

Haughton's analysis can also be applied to our entertainment product in tourism. Although entertainment has advanced somewhat in the form of festivals, the product remains ad hoc. There's no certainty on talent, commission, base structure for sellers, planning and marketing budgets, etc.

All is not lost, as Dr André Haughton has provided the blueprint. Over to you, Jamaican private sector! The opportunities are unlimited!
