Quit whining, Garry and LIME

Published:Tuesday | April 2, 2013 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I heard some news reports that Garfield Sinclair, managing director of LIME, formerly Cable & Wireless, is quarrelingabout rates, and that he believes that the "dominant provider" shouldbe controlled by the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR).

I find itso strange that the company that ruled the roost in Jamaica for somany years is referring to another company as the "dominant provider". If LIME had treated its customers the right way, a newcomerwould not have entered the market and passed them so quickly.

Whilethere is an important role for the OUR to play, let all providersunderstand that consumers now have options. For the past 12 years,we have been able to make a choice and not be held under thestranglehold of a company that used to charge us for receiving cell phone calls.
