Freddie McGregor receives two award nominations
International reggae legend Freddie McGregor has received two nominations in the 32nd Annual International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
McGregor is nominated in the categories Royal Ambassador of Reggae and World Music and Most Consistent Entertainer for 2012 for the stellar event, which is slated to take place on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the state-of-the-art Coral Springs Center for the Arts, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
McGregor, who is currently promoting his latest album Freddie McGregor: Di Captain, says he is pleased, but more importantly, grateful for the nominations.
"I'm extremely grateful to be nominated for those awards. Being nominated as the Royal Ambassador of Reggae and World Music and also as the Most Consistent Entertainer is an extremely humbling experience. To have the music recognised and appreciated is a wonderful feeling, and I am appreciative to all the fans for their support and the organisers of the event for seeing it fit to nominate me," said McGregor.
The primary objective of Martin's International, the producers of the event, is the promotion of reggae, Caribbean, African and other world music as art forms and as a vehicle for the expression of the voiceless peoples of the world.
Each year, IRAWMA honours entertainers and others associated with world music for their contributions to the industry and to humanity internationally. More than 20 million fans viewed clips of the 29th, 30th, and 31st IRAWMAs on both the Internet and television.
