THE EDITOR, Sir:
TOTALLY PREPOSTEROUS! A request from our nation's leaders to tighten our belts and freeze our wages is unethical and unscrupulous, yet it would seem as if we need to beg them to freeze their wages also.
Every bill and loan is spelt the same way, why should civil servants be expected to run the full gamut and the leaders not join them? Totally horrific and unfair.
Painstakingly, we twist and twirl our meagre income to accommodate our family needs.
How dare our leaders try to squeeze every last drop of hope from us and idly sit by and watch it dissipate into thin air? Must we walk around in this Jamaica land we love like zombies!?
Jamaica's leaders continue to skyrocket their standard of living and resemble overfed cows with guts too large for their own body frame, but our pride and resilience will not be broken by them, we always manage to find a solution.
Let's not forget the many millions wasted on new vehicles that could be a supplemented fund to repay the International Monetary Fund and so many wasted billions on structures not being utilised, also new contracts handed out to improve the country's infrastructure, instead the abuse and mishandling of funds allotted, dived into pockets already too weighted down with ill-gotten gains and bank accounts that grow like sky-rise building.
Our leaders need to remember that we elected them to serve and as a nation we can call for their resignation at any time.
It's grossly unfair to ask of us to sacrifice ourselves while you all relax, tan yourself and sip champagne and laugh at us lesser mortals. of course, we don't begrudge you the so-called elite group, but please allow us to enjoy that for which we work every now and then.
Be warned that life is a cycle and it will come around to you one day, GOD still sits on his throne and HE will repay you, because HE is a just GOD!
