St Catherine Cricket Club and Kingston will meet at Chedwin Park in one of several marquee match-ups of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) One-Day Championship, which bowls off today.
In other key match-ups, defending champions Jamaica Defence Force will play away to Police at Elleston Road, Clarendon will host Manchester at Port Esquivel, while St Elizabeth and St Catherine Cricket Association will do battle at Manley Horne Park.
The main encounter, which is set to get under way at 9:30 a.m., will see St Catherine parading the likes of national captain Tamar Lambert, Danza Hyatt and Bevon Brown.
Kingston, in the meanwhile, will look to captain Lionel Morant, Garth Garvey, Paul Harrison and Boris Hutchinson.
However, both teams will be missing key national players. St Catherine will be without Indian Premier League participant André Russell and Odean Brown, who is nursing a knee injury, while Kingston will be without Andrew Richardson and Simon Jackson. Richardson is being rested, while Jackson is reportedly in England.
"It will be a fairly young and inexperienced team that takes the field. However, we intend to give a good account of ourselves," said Kingston's coach Kerry Scott.
"St Catherine is normally a tough team to play, especially with them being at home, but they too are without key players which means if we play well anything can happen."
St Catherine's technical director, Ephraim McLeod, said his team, while not fully prepared, is looking forward to making a winning start.
"Training and preparation has not been ideal, as we have only started to put in some serious work over the past week," he said.
"But we have experienced players in the team and are hoping to do the best we can."
