THE WEEKEND begins on Thursday nights for many Kingstonians, as this little city has a lot to offer when it comes to night-time entertainment. Included on the long list of Thursday night hot spots is a weekly series that has brought something completely unconventional to Kingston's nightlife landscape.
Hookah Thursdays is one of the latest party series to hit the local circuit. The event's most talked about feature is that patrons can choose to indulge in the smoking of flavoured tobacco (shisha) with the aid of a water pipe (hookah), a trend that is becoming increasingly popular across the globe.
The event takes place on the top floor of Quad Night Club, New Kingston.
"The event is Smirnoff drink inclusive as well as hookah inclusive for the unbeatable price of $1,000 for ladies and $1,500 for men. Hookah Thursdays is the brainchild of myself, Alex 'Alca' Morrison and Karl Lyn-Cook, who saw a need for something different to be introduced to the local party circuit," Morrison told K'Nightlife.
DJ Nicco from Fame 95 FM is Hookah Thursday's resident DJ, so you can always expect great music. As it is hookah inclusive, patrons can enjoy a variety of flavoured tobacco each week, such as white peach, strawberry and mint, at no additional cost.
"Each week, we see some new celebs paying us a visit at Hookah Thursdays. So far, we have seen the likes of Voicemail, Denyque, Russian - and that's just to name a few," Morrison added.
Alca's Most Memorable Moment(s): "My most memorable experience with Hookah Thursdays so far is just seeing our patrons having the time of their livespartying, forgetting all theirtroubles and coming back each week for more fun!"
Tip: Hookah Thursdays is not your typical party experience. Be prepared to get hooked on a party that is sure to make you forget all your worries - if even just for one night.
