Barbican FC will face G. C. Foster College in the Sherwin Williams Women's football league mid-season final today at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, starting at 3:30 p.m.
The winners will be presented with the trophy and $80,000 cash incentive, while the runners-up will collect $60,000.
Barbican advanced to the mid-season final after winning all four games in Zone A to amass maximum 12 points. G. C. Foster College made it from Zone B on goal difference after ending on eight points. Waterhouse, Trelawny Women's and Los Perfectos also ended on eight points apiece following the conclusion of round one in the preliminary stage.
The Barbican team is favoured to win the contest but G. C. Foster College are no pushovers. "I think to date this is our most difficult challenge. They (G. C. Foster College) have boasted that they are the only team that carried us to extra time and penalties in the knockout final last year, so we are expecting a tough game," Charles Edwards, coach of Barbican Women's team told The Gleaner yesterday.
"We can't allow G. C. Foster to play their game as they are a formidable team," Edwards added.
Barbican's victory hunt will be led by Shanice Smith, Jodi-Ann McGregor, and Janine Dennis. Meanwhile, the Kurt Brooks-coached G. C. Foster College will counter with Monique Pryce, Mitsy Facey, Khedine Salmon, and Jodeen Whyte.
