Seems that anything that goes wrong in this country, there are two groups of people who get the blame. The first group is the politicians which I suppose is the easy thing to do considering they decide on the policies that govern the country. Natural choice I guess. Uneasy is the head that wears the crown.
But the other group is the media. Yes man, we are the next whipping boys. Actually, I feel the media gets it worse than the politicians because when push comes to shove, the politicians turn on the media too. The latest person to do it was Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke.
Now, after his ill-advised comments about oxtail as opposed to chicken back, the portly minister did what was expected: he blamed the media for blowing it out of proportion. So, if we are to follow his 'reasoning', the media knew exactly what he meant (whatever it is, cause me still nuh know), and deliberately published/broadcast something else.
So for all those uninitiated, let me help you with any difficulties you may be having. When you're looking for anything or anyone to blame, just give it the good old media quote. So in other words there is no possibility that the minister didn't express himself properly to begin with, which was the beginning of all confusion. I'm always amazed how people who are not neophytes to speaking to the public always, judging by the way they say they were misquoted/misunderstood, get it wrong. Aah but they didn't get it wrong because it's the unscrupulous media fiends who are skewing the words. (Sigh)
But what annoys me even more is that the media can't seem to do anything right. When there's a big event, we hear they're not covering it right. And when there is a string of bad news out there, we hear the media doesn't do enough good news. And when the public gets tired of the teary-eyed stories, they complain about the lack of investigative pieces. Aah bwoy!
Quite frankly, if I have a child, I'm going to highly suggest they only enter this field if they have a broad back and don't get 'dark' too quickly. Both traits, by the way, they would have to get from their mother. Better off being a politic ... you know what? Never mind.
So anyone having any trouble with playing the blame game, let me help you out. Just blame the media. The economy is crap? Blame the media. The school system needs revamping? Media. Your spouse giving you 'bun'? You know who to point to. Global warming/climate change? Look no further. The media! There; can't say I didn't help you.
