THE EDITOR, Sir:
I read the article by Deirdre English Gosse, CEO of the Registrar General's Department ('RGD responds to customer service hell', Gleaner, Friday, August 16, 2013) and noticed you were able to resolve a problem for the customer.
I seek your assistance to resolve a similar situation for my sister who resides in Canada. She applied for and received her birth certificate in the new format. Ever since her registration at birth, our father's surname has been on the form.
For the recent one, his middle name now appears as his surname, and when I try to have this error corrected, we are told that she needs to do a late registration and pay all the requisite fees.
We await your response should you require further particulars.
