THE EDITOR, Sir:
The absence/boycott of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition from the national celebrations to commemorate our 51st year of Independence must be described as disgusting and immature.
After listening to the reasons proffered by the opposition spokesperson on culture, I am convinced more than ever that this boycott was juvenile.
At this important moment in Jamaica's history when all hands must be on deck, the signal sent by the Opposition is of some concern, even more so coming after their refusal to sign on to the Partnership of Jamaica Agreement.
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) needs to tell us what it is really about. The party needs to get its act together. Not being allocated tickets for the Grand Gala, as reported by the opposition spokesperson on culture, is as flimsy an excuse as you will get.
Come on, JLP. Do better than that.
