THE EDITOR, Sir:
The recent article penned by former executive director of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO), Ms Renée Anne Shirley, has left me dumfounded in its scathing attack on the nation.
I am hurt by the blatantly unconscionable efforts to sully the good names of the athletes in question - all of Team Jamaica who performed so creditably at the recent World Championships in Moscow, Russia, as well as to so clearly tarnish Jamaica's international brand.
Her vitriol is a deep source of dismay and pain for me. If this is not poison, I am not sure what else is.
No one denies that what Ms Shirley writes about is a matter of the gravest importance. However, both the timing and the medium speak volumes of her complicity in destroying international public opinion towards Jamaica and its athletes.
No one is denying the value of Jamaica's own need to fix the internal problems which weigh down the work of JADCO.
I am truly sad and hurt by this development, especially now that the World Anti-Doping Agency has threatened to kick Jamaica out of the Rio Olympics if the Government does not fix this problem immediately.
Is Judas in our midst?
