THE EDITOR, Sir:
I find the article George Davis wrote ('He ain't pretty, but he's pretty damn good', The Gleaner, August 21, 2013) most offensive. It is rude and insensitive to write about another human being in a public forum defining them as you have done Francis.
It overshadows the point you were trying to make about the man's worth. I would love to hear your definition of beauty.
The line: "'Frano' could hardly have been more unfortunate in the looks department. A corpulent man who makes the shade black look black" is offensive to all black people. The statement implies that to be black is undesirable.
People like you who should know better help to perpetuate the self-hatred that is the root cause of societal issues such as the bleaching culture.
What about responsible journalism? I expect better from The Gleaner.
