Just releasing his second single, You Girl, featuring Ne-Yo, off his soon-to-be released album produced by the legendary Sly and Robby titled Out of Many, One Music, the single is currently number one on the reggae iTunes chart.
"It shows that people are still looking to hear good-quality reggae music, and the hard work we continue to put in daily will pay off. Out of Many, One Music is filled with great tracks like Fight this Feeling and You Girl, and to have the number one, two and three top-selling reggae singles on the iTune's reggae charts is a good feeling," says Shaggy.
The second top-selling single on this week's iTunes reggae chart is one of Shaggy hits, It Wasn't Me; and the third top-selling reggae single is Angel, featuring Rayvon, both, off his Hot Shot album.
Recently, Shaggy was asked "How do you continue to stay relevant and a headliner in this ever-changing music industry?"
He replied: "Well, my formula may not work for a next artiste, but for me, a great team, have fun when working, and no sleep. I have fun with every performance. I smile every time I'm in the presence of my fans, and I work 23 hours a day. Most importantly, I make sure to develop a solid team to make sure we execute."
Shaggy was this year's 'Celebrate Brooklyn' headline act in Prospect Park and pulled record numbers of over 14,000 people. Now, off to St Martin and Houston, Texas, Shaggy will return to New York on August 29, where he is scheduled to take over New York. With more than five performances in three days, it is evident that Shaggy has no intentions of resting anytime soon.
High-flying dancehall artiste Mr Vegas will appear on the BET hit show 106 & Park on Friday, August 30.
Mr Vegas, who is basking in the attention since the release of Standing on the Sun, his collab with R&B Superstar Beyoncé, says the appearance is another step in continuing his musical journey.
"This is good. The world continues to support the music I put out. Bruk it Down is still killing the airwaves internationally and Party Tun Up is making its mark. I am happy that my music is standing front and centre and people are continuously enjoying the songs I release," Mr Vegas said.
Mr Vegas, who shot the segment last Monday, is in Europe, where he performed at the Rototom Sunsplash in Spain on Tuesday. He will also appear at several venues, including Gatecrasher in Birmingham, England, on August 25; and the Scandinavia Festival in Denmark on Friday, August 30.
The artiste says these shows are in advance of the release of his next album, Bruk It Down 2.0, which will be released worldwide on September 24.
"This album has 16 tracks such as Bruk It Down Soca Remix, Come Here Bubbler, and Give it to Her. I will be releasing the video for Come Here Bubbla and Give it to Her in the first week of September when I return from Europe. After that, it's just strictly promoting the album," Mr Vegas continued.
With the success of Bruk It Down, Standing on the Sun, and other tracks such as Party Tun Up, Mr Vegas says the fans should take the credit for keeping him relevant in the dancehall space and giving him the credibility to continue touring internationally.
The Heineken Inspire tour got off to a great start yesterday on the north coast.
This campaign aims at unearthing talent in the four categories of art, music, film, and fashion. Following the tremendous success of last years' inaugural staging of the Heineken Inspire campaign, the premium beer brand is on a mission to inspire the creativity of Jamaicans and hone those talents as best as it can.
"Young Jamaican artistes find it incredibly hard to break into the business on their own, while trying to build their name and secure appreciation for their pieces. Heineken realizes this fact and decided to create a competition that would showcase that passion and talent," said Nasha Douglas, brand manager, Heineken.
The tour starts in Ocho Rios at the Gaza Bar and John Crows; then will move to Turf Paradise, St Ann's Bay; on to Duncans, Trelawny; to Rainbow Tavern/Kiki Rouge; then to the Family Bar in Falmouth; and will end at the MoBay Proper Bar in Montego Bay.
"We encourage persons to come out and be a part of this tour. It will give an opportunity to learn about how to enter the competition and be a star with Heineken," Douglas added.
Interested persons are encouraged to be as ingenious as possible by submitting their inspired pieces using Heineken and all elements of the beer as inspiration.
Contestants are asked to develop a detailed concept and present it to a panel of judges at any of the three castings. The castings will be as follows: August 31, Blue Beat Montego Bay; September 7, QQs Bar Savanna- La-Mar; and September 14, Triple Century Kingston.
Entries from each category will be selected and placed in the Heineken Incubator. Each person that is selected will be given $25,000 to work with a mentor to develop the idea.
The panel of judges, made up of industry leaders, will make the final decision, and the announcement will be made at the grand finale. Each category winner will receive $250,000, plus other prizes.
"A second tour on August 30 will focus on the south coast of the island. The details of that will soon be disclosed," Douglas said.

In what takes days to break the 5K mark in local Web content, Righteous Vibes Gospel Top Ten - a fresh contender in the local media - has shot to 10,000 views in just a few hours.
The new show, conceptualised by upcoming gospel artiste/show producer Jason Bless, fuses the elements of countdown, talk, and inspiration to give an engaging, head-bopping, eye-catching product.
With a surge of new music videos flooding the local scene since May, the competition is on with secular counterparts for the youth market. Righteous Vibes Gospel Top Ten plans to deliver visual quality and entertainment for youth. However, with the looming issue of artistes competing for which video makes it to the coveted No.1 spot, the show's production team gives the assurance that the product is non-aligned.
"It's not a competition," says Bless as "the show aims to highlight the work being done by local acts whether home or abroad. Any notion that it is a competition- based show should be dismissed."
Featuring the latest music videos, news, and information by top local gospel acts, including Rondell Positive, Jermaine Edwards, DJ Nicholas, and Omari, the show features an in-house disc jock known as DJ Sticko blazing the latest music sweeps for a righteous dance party with no omissions and no worries.
Hosted by amateur Video Jockey Sherene Mercedes, the team will soon set as its target the heavy hitters of free-to-air TV. But with the current trends internationally seeing the shift to YouTube channels with video content moving away from TV, the push is only part of its arsenal to promote inspiration, positive music, and top-quality entertainment for gospel lovers.
The show airs Saturdays at 6 p.m. on the Righteous Vibes Gospel Top Ten YouTube channel.
