Minister of Tourism and Entertainment Dr Wykeham McNeill has welcomed plans by international carrier British Airways (BA) to increase to four its number of weekly flights from Gatwick, London, into Kingston. This after BA officials outlined that the new service is slated to start in April 2014.
The new flight will mark an increase from the three flights per week previously offered by the carrier from London Gatwick into Kingston's Norman Manley International Airport. Company officials indicate that the new service will be operated on a Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and is in line with commercial demand.
"I welcome BA's decision to add another flight into Kingston as this service will provide additional air seats to Jamaica and will further boost our efforts as a ministry to increase airlift to the island," he said.
