THE EDITOR, Sir:
For the very first time in Jamaica, there is a young politician called Mr Andrew Holness leading the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). He called an early election just to get his own mandate by telling the people the truth, and he paid a political price for it.
After the party was victorious in one by-election in a People's National Party constituency, Man-a-Yard wants to challenge Mr Holness for leadership to create a division in the party which is the government-in-waiting. How stupid he is!
Mr Holness has most of the young people of this country and overseas behind him because he is a former education minister, so having a man like this as the next prime minister, Jamaica will be a well-educated nation, and poverty will decline significantly.
Jamaica now needs a man like this to govern the economy. He is humble and working on the people's behalf without promising the Government and the people any nightmare.
I am appealing to Man-a-Yard that his timing is wrong and what he is doing now will damage the party and keep us in Opposition for another 18 years, because the people are no fools. They are smart and educated.
So, Mr Shaw, if you love your island home, please rethink your position and work with Mr Holness. Do not take bad advice from anyone in the party. You are good at finance. You know how to handle the country's revenue and create a stable economy.
May God bless Andrew Holness.
