THE EDITOR, Sir:
The recent stir caused by the Chinese investors in selecting Goat Islands as the preferred site for the logistics hub exposes the shortcomings in our management and planning.
There's an urgent need for a thorough analysis of the Jamaican landscape, identifying the suitability of different areas for environmental protection, agriculture, industrial/commercial or residential use, parks, etc.
To further cement the process, there should be a tabling in the House to make it part of our laws requiring a two-thirds voting majority for any alteration. Maps should be printed and be available in a similar manner to those used in traversing our roads. One would only have to consult a map prior to making a decision.
We have been late in learning! Let's not have a repetition!
