THE EDITOR, Sir:
I found Ian Boyne's commentary captioned 'Only Audley can tek it to Portia' (Sunday, September 1, 2013) to be very therapeutic, deeply analytical, unbiased and profound. As usual, it was also honestly intellectual and forthright.
Glad Ian was able to put things in perspective for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). One is hoping that they will thank you for this. On the other hand, I believe personal ambitions and egotism will get the better of 'pastoral' Andrew and he will go on to win the leadership race if, indeed, Audley puts up a challenge, thus guaranteeing Portia and the People's National Party administration another term in office.
This, as according to Member of Parliament Andrew Wheatley, the JLP delegates in his constituency are simply puppets (my emphasis), who should not be allowed to think for themselves and will, therefore, vote as they are told by him. Therefore, not one of his delegates will vote for Audley. Or was it Portia's cousin, Everald Warmington, who said this?
It's hard to keep up with the nonsensical utterances coming from this fractious bunch, which, ironically, always does what is right for the economy when they are in power but cannot keep themselves from washing their dirty laundry in public when they are in Opposition.
