THE EDITOR, Sir:
Following the leak of Minister Roger Clarke's photograph some Jamaicans are in shock, some are left in disbelief and others are overwhelmed with excitement. It is of utmost importance that the leaders of this country be cognisant of their roles and their impact at all points in time. Of course, the minister must have a personal life, sure! He must be able to dance and have fun but he should be mindful of when his fun begins, where his fun begins and who is watching.
The photograph shows him in an orange shirt, which may be interpreted that he was representing the People's National Party at one of their functions. Now, how will he explain this position to a child? How can he explain this position to youth and religious individuals who admire his leadership style?
This leak should be a wake-up call to all leaders, and especially leaders of this country. You do not know who is watching and is ready to capture your candid moment; hence, your conduct must always be one that is admirable. You are in the spotlight and also in total control of what messages you send. First, let it be pleasing in God's sight, and in so doing there will be a great ripple effect on the viewers.
