THE EDITOR, Sir:
We note with amusement both People's National Party and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters criticising Dr Andrew Wheatley, member of parliament for St Catherine South Central, for his "aggressive partisan support" for his choice of party leader.
What they forgot to mention is that Dr Wheatley, from councillor to mayor to member of parliament, has always demonstrated the highest level of leadership qualities at every level of his political career so far and will continue to do so, regardless of who wins the leadership race in the JLP on November 9, 2013.
We note under the Charter of Rights and Fundamental Freedoms - which his detractors are ignorant of - that he has a democratic right to promote his choice for leader, just like those who are promoting theirs.
Finally, we need to remind those attacking Dr Wheatley that democracy is a two-way street. Hence, those criticising him should also do a democracy check on themselves as democracy is a double-edged sword. It cuts both ways.
