The English St Leger, the final classic of the Flat racing season, will be run over 14 furlongs at Doncaster tomorrow with 11 declared to face the starter.
The field includes top contenders EXCESS KNOWLEDGE, GALILEO ROCK and LEADING LIGHT with EXCESS KNOWLEDGE and GALILEO ROCK disputing favouritism with most bookmakers.
EXCESS KNOWLEDGE, who went close in the recent Gordon Stakes at glorious Goodwood aims to give trainer John Gosden his fifth Ladbrokes' St Leger victory.
Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien will be bidding to win the race for a fourth time with LEADING LIGHT, winner of the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot in June. O'Brien's son Joseph is down to ride LEADING LIGHT.
The Godolphin outfit, who has won the race on six occasions, will see their colours carried by three horses, including the Epsom derby runner-up LIBERTARIAN to be ridden by William Buick.
Today's racing takes place at Doncaster, Sandown and Bagor. At Doncaster, the 11-8 ante post favourite IHTIMAL (S. DeSousa) should win the May Hill Fillies (Group 2) over a mile in which seven have been declared. The filly, who won well at Newmarket last time out, is trained by Saed Bin Suroor.
