THE EDITOR, Sir:
There is something stink in the capital city, and no one seems to know what it is. A noxious scent has been permeating both residential and commercial districts of the city for close to a week, and yet we are no closer to getting answers from the State as to the possible cause. One gets the impression that there is no sense of urgency to address this issue.
The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), the government agency responsible for environmental matters, is clearly clueless as to a possible cause of this pungent odour which has a stifling effect. Is it that NEPA knows the cause of this problem but refuses to level with us?
The sewage-like stench continues to blanket the Kingston Metropolitan Area. Those of us who suffer from respiratory problems are clearly more at risk than the general population. Production time is being affected.
We demand answers now! We can't continue to live like this!
