Jamaica College continued their impressive run in Group E when they whipped Ardenne High 4-0 in the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup football competition at Ardenne High yesterday.
The Jamaica College team was winning their third game from as many starts, following 5-0 and 6-0 victories against Tivoli Gardens and St Andrew College, respectively.
JC dominated the game on a bumpy Ardenne playing field and could easily have won by a much bigger margin.
The Old Hope Road-based school went ahead in the contest when captain and leading striker, Junior Flemming, curled home a beautiful free kick past Ardenne goalkeeper Kalvin Brown in the 29th minute.
Ardenne did little to their hope of winning the game as they kept giving the ball away instead of passing around and posed little threat in the first half. However, JC failed to add to the lead after missing some good chances.
In the second half, JC continued their dominance but had to wait until the 73rd minute for another goal when Allando Brown headed a left-side free-kick past Brown. Then two minutes later Rafique Bryan slotted a shot past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
Ramone Howell sealed the deal for his team with a header at 90+3 minutes.
Despitev the comprehensive win, JC's head coach was not impressed.
"It was an ugly performance from my team. However, I am happy with the win. We will continue to work. It was three points, but the field was a factor and that didn't allow us to play our game," Miguel Coley, head coach of JC, said at game's end.
For their part, Ardenne were simply overwhelmed by a better opponent and offered little resistance. Najar Walton, Romali Freeman and captain Nicholas Banks were their best players on the day.
Rohan Rosseau, Ardenne's coach, admitted JC was the better team.
"The team we played has been scoring a lot. We started well, but gave away too many free-kicks around our area and were punished."
With the victory JC moved to nine points in the lead in Group E after three games.
