Many-time champions Jamaica College (JC) will go in search of their fourth consecutive win in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup competition when they tackle José Marti High in their Group E top-of-the-table clash at Old Hope Road today.
The Miguel Coley-coached JC lead the group with nine points from three matches. They are followed by José Marti and Bridgeport, who are both locked on seven points each, Tivoli Gardens and Ardenne with one point each and bottom place St Andrew College, who are still searching for their first point after three matches.
In the group's other games, St Andrew College will oppose Tivoli Gardens at Mico field and Bridgeport will host Ardenne.
JC oozing confidence
JC, who last won the title in 2010, will enter today's contest oozing with confidence following their 4-0 victory over Ardenne on Tuesday. They have also recorded impressive 5-0 and 6-0 victories over Tivoli Gardens and St Andrew College, respectively.
"We are hoping for a good result," said Ian Forbes manager of JC. "Based on what we have heard, José Marti seem to be a very good team and so we are taking this game very seriously like we did in all our previous games."
JC's hunt for goals will be led by their leading scorer and captain Junior Flemming, with four goals this season, along with Raffique Bryan, Ramone Howell and Melique Foster.
Meanwhile, Calvert Fitzgerald, coach of José Marti, said his team will be seeking a comprehensive victory in today's contest.
"We know that JC have a very talented side and so we are going all out at them," said Fitzgerald. "I don't think that we have anything to lose and so we are going there to run at them."
He added: "I think it is going to be a tough match for us because they have been scoring a lot of goals in the competition and we will have to try and disrupt their pattern and try and score some goals."
