Excitement had been quickly building for what is expected to be an unforgettable celebration around the world. Today, thousands of Jamaicans get to see if Arthur's Day 2013 celebrations live up to those expectations.
Taking place across 55 countries, this year's Arthur's Day in Jamaica features a line-up, including I-Octane, Bunji Garlin, Tarrus Riley, Busy Signal, Fay-Ann Lyons, Aidonia, The Script, and Emeli Sandé, as well as internationally acclaimed artistes such as All American Rejects, The Wanted, The Fray, Manic Street Preachers, and the legendary Bobby Womack.
Bunji Garlin, who will be performing at the Caribbean celebrations in Kingston said it was "exciting to be part of such a prestigious line-up".
"I can't wait to get up onstage at this year's Arthur's Day and raise a toast to Arthur, and all those like him, who make great things happen all around the world," he said.
The Caribbean's Arthur's Day celebration will be broadcast live by Guinness media partners across the region. They include CTV Channel 600 and ABS TV in Antigua, Channel 5 in Belize, CVM TV in Jamaica, Karib Kable in St Vincent, Daher Broadcasting Service in St Lucia, CCNTV6 in Trinidad and Tobago, and Cable Bahamas.
There will also be a live radio broadcast on Hot 97 in St Vincent and Blazin FM in St Lucia.
The celebrations will also raise global awareness of the Arthur Guinness Fund, a unique initiative that champions and supports the innovators and doers who roll up their sleeves and make great things happen in their communities by tackling problems head-on.
Guinness will be rewarding five social entrepreneurs with a combined cash prize of more than US$70,000 which will go towards sustaining their social projects.
Following this year's Arthur's Day celebrations, fans can continue to help communities around the world, and show their support for the Arthur Guinness Fund awardees, by taking part in a Toast with a Tweet (www.arthurguinnessfund.com).
To do this, fans simply select their favourite cause and send out a tweet with hashtag #MadeOfMore to celebrate and raise valuable awareness of the fantastic work it does.
With an exciting global line-up now complete, countries including Spain, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, Australia, the Caribbean, and Ireland, to name a few, are preparing to welcome these artistes ahead of what is set to be a remarkable celebration.
