LeBron tops NBA's jersey sales
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP):
LeBron James has the world's best-selling NBA jersey.
The Miami Heat star and four-time league MVP tops the NBA's global list of jersey sales for this past season, according to numbers released Tuesday. James - who also has the top-selling jersey in the United States - outsold Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Heat teammate Dwyane Wade for the No. 1 spot.
James said having the world's top-selling jersey "means everything" to him.
"To know that so many people look up to me, so many kids, that's what means more than anything - that I continue to inspire the youth and they look at me as a role model," James said.
IOC receives Armstrong's medal
Lance Armstrong's Olympic medal is back with the IOC.
The International Olympic Committee stripped the American rider of the bronze medal from the 2000 Sydney Games in January after he admitted to doping.
After months of delays, Armstrong handed back the medal two weeks ago to the US Olympic Committee.
The IOC said yesterday it has received the medal from the USOC and placed it in storage at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
"Yes, we have it," IOC spokesman Mark Adams told The Associated Press. "It is in the vaults."
The return of the medal marks "the end of a sad chapter for the sport", Adams said.
Bayern outclasses Man City
MANCHESTER, England (AP):
Barely four months after winning the Champions League at Wembley Stadium, Bayern Munich returned to England yesterday and showed they are in no mood to give up Europe's most coveted trophy.
With an ominous display of swagger and authority, Bayern humbled Manchester City 3-1 to signal that things may get even better under Pep Guardiola then they were under their treble-winning coach of last season, Jupp Heynckes.
In other games yesterday, Real Madrid beat FC Copenhagen 4-0 at home, Juventus and Galatasaray drew 2-2, Shakhtar Donetsk and Manchester United also drew 1-1, while PSG blanked Benfica 3-0.
