Swizz Beads by Tiffany Edwards is giving back for Breast Cancer Awareness Month through her beautiful bracelet creations.
The Swiss-born Jamaican is giving back to the country that she has called home for the past three years. She was born to a Jamaican mother and Swiss father and having been born and raised in Switzerland decided that she wanted to get to know her Jamaican roots. Edwards founded Swizz Beads in 2011. All her bracelets are handmade by her.
She believes that every entrepreneur should give back when they can to a charity of choice. With that being said, it was not a hard decision to start a project in aid of the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS).
"Jamaica Cancer Society is a good organisation. I have been living here for three years and I think people need to know what they should do to prevent or just cope with breast cancer," said Edwards.
This is the first time that Swizz Beads has participated in Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a line of bracelets; however, Edwards hopes it will not be the last. She is doing this project in collaboration with Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) and markets Everything Pink for the month of October. After having collaborated with CPJ previously for another project the sale of she told them about her idea for the bracelets, and the rest was history. A large amount of the proceeds from, her bracelet will go to the Jamaica Cancer Society.
She is also open to the idea of continuing with this line consistently throughout the year once there are stores that are open to showcasing the jewels, and she would continue giving a portion of the proceeds from that venture to the JCS.
"October is the month for breast cancer awareness. However, it doesn't mean this should only be done at this time. So if the stores will carry the line for the whole year, then I'd be willing. A portion of the proceeds would still go to the Jamaica Cancer Society," she said.
The product is not only available locally as anyone can order it from her website: http://swizzbeads.com or Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/swizzbeads.
