Reggae artiste Jah Khemist is seeking to get his musical career on track following a near-fatal car accident last year, which slowed his progress for months.
According to the artiste, the accident gave him a renewed sense of purpose.
Jah Khemist is now promoting a single, Success, a motivational song, intended to inspire persons to follow their dreams, regardless of obstacles.
"This song has a positive vibes, on a whole. It's about having faith and motivating the world, through music, because success is a must. But, at the same time, we are not going to do negative things to achieve it. I encourage patience and trust in the Most High," Jah Khemist said.
The artiste said Success partially documents his struggles as an artiste. Inspiration for the song was also drawn from challenges faced by aspiring reggae acts to receive airplay on local radio, as well as the car accident.
"The car accident slowed down the marketing that I was doing for my music. So I'm just picking up things in my own hands right now. The producers record and master the song, but I decided that I would go after my dreams and push it on my own. I can't wait on people to decide on my destiny," he said.
Success was produced by Gold Leaf Records. However, the artiste is also working with May Town Records and Half Puff Records.
Jah Khemist believes Success has the potential to become a hit, provided it receives the right support from radio.
According to the artiste, persons who have listened to the song have taken a liking to it. This he sees as an indication that if it were to be exposed to the world, everybody would be captured by its melody and content.
"Everybody who hear it love it. The minute I recorded it, the producer loved it so much he decided to call the rhythm compilation 'Success' rhythm. That shows how powerful it is," said Jah Khemist.
Jah Khemist, though an ardent supporter of reggae music, is also planning to release a few dancehall songs in an attempt to get his name into that market. He was quick to point out, however, that the content would still be sending positive messages.
The artiste has also set sights on breaking into the European market. His music can be viewed via YouTube, Khemist Success.
