Badminton team leaves for Pan Am
Jamaica's Pan Am badminton team leaves the island today to participate in the XVIII Pan American Badminton Championships being staged in Santo Domingo. The team comprises captain Gareth Henry, Samuel Ricketts, Kathryn Wynter and Ruth Williams, who will be making her international debut for Jamaica.
The other teams that will be competing in the team events, which runs from October 21-23, Argentina, Brazil, Canada (the heavy favourites), Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, United States and the Dominican Republic. The Individual events will begin on October 24 and conclude on October 27. Henry is ranked 58th and is expected to be seeded in the men's singles.
All the players will compete in the Santo Domingo Open, which will be staged from October 28-31.
