Clive 'Busy' Campbell, organiser and founder of the annual Bell/Ziadie Memorial Celebrity Charity football extravaganza, expecting a fun-filled day of activities at tomorrow's 27th staging of the event, which will be held at Winchester Park, St. George's College, starting at 2 p.m.
The games, organised by Masters/Celebrities Inc. in association with Digicel, will feature teams such as Masters & Celebrities and Entertainers, St George's Invitational, Jamaica Cricket team and Sponsors/Media.
"I am looking forward to a fun-filled Heroes' Day because of the large number of celebrities who will be on show," said Campbell. "We have will former national striker Walter 'Blacka' Boyd, along with Ricardo 'Bibi' Gardner, Hector Wright, Paul 'Tegat' Davis and Gregory Messam."
The Entertainers' team will consist of Chris Martin, Aidonia, Lukie D, Tony Curtis and Wayne Marshall., while the Masters and Celebrities' team will include World Championships silver medallist Warren Weir, along with Alvin Shaw, Ian Wilkinson and Byron Earle.
Basic schools to benefit
Campbell thanked Digicel and the other sponsors for coming on board in support of the event.
He disclosed that proceeds from the game will go towards assisting needy basic schools in the Corporate Area.
"We have to focus on education as a means of nation-building," Campbell said. "I want people to come out and support the effort that we are making to help the basic schools and children islandwide."
He added: "There will be a lot prizes and surprises from our sponsors and so people should come out and enjoy themselves on Monday because they will be entertained throughout that day."
Football coaches Winthorpe 'Jackie' Bell and Dennis Ziadie died tragically during the 1986 World Cup Finals in Mexico.
In keeping with tradition, persons who have impacted the sport and entertainment will be honoured. several This year's honourees are former FIFA referee, Clive Wright, Danny Simpson, former St George's College star and former national player, Allan 'Skill' Cole.
