Former Mayor of Falmouth, Joseph Wright, is dead.
Wright died Tuesday morning in a private hospital after being taken there for a respiratory illness on Sunday. He had been ill for a while with a prostate problem. He is survived by wife Hyacynthia.
Wright was honoured on Monday at the Trelawny Heroes Day Civic and Awards Ceremony for his contribution to politics but was unable to attend as he was in hospital.
Present mayor of Falmouth, Garth Wilkinson, said: "He is among the most organised persons I know and had a passion for the elderly as he would always seek out ways to assist them. He will be sadly missed."
Wright is the longest-serving mayor of Falmouth, having operated in that office for 17 years and 26 years as a councillor.
