According to a release from Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) issued yesterday, "allegations" have been made regarding an incident which occurred on Monday, October 21, 2013 (Heroes Day) in the seventh race involving the horse MOREBULLETSTOFIRE, ridden by Shane Ellis.
Due to the nature of the allegations being made, the management of the company has referred the incident to the Jamaica Racing Commission (regulating body) for an immediate and thorough investigation.
"In the interim, the board and management is undertaking its own investigation, and where evidence of race fixing is found, the strongest possible action will be taken against anyone involved," the JRC release said. "We, however, await the outcome of the investigation from the Jamaica Racing Commission."
Intercol TT champs
The Intercol Table Tennis competition continues today with three matches, all starting at 3 p.m. G.C. Foster College will entertain University of Technology (UTech) in male and female matches, and The Mico University College (Mico) will be at home to University of the West Indies (UWI) in a male contest. UTech are defending male champions, while UWI are four-time defending female champions.
UWI lead the men's standings with five points, followed by UTech (four) and both Mico and G.C. Foster (three). UWI and Mico have each played three matches, while UTech and G.C. Foster have played two matches each.
On the female side, UWI are on top with four points, while UTech and G.C. Foster have one point apiece. UWI have played two matches, while G.C. Foster and UTech have each played one match. The top two finishers in each category after the home-and-away fixtures will contest the finals.
