Quest Preparatory won the Jamaica Independent Schools Association (JISA) Prep Schools' opening-day netball rally on Thursday when they edged Portmore Missionary Prep 4-3 in an exciting final at the Leila Robinson Courts, Independence Park Complex.
Twenty-one schools, divided into four zones, participated in the one-day event which began with an opening ceremony and dress parade.
Teams played in a round-robin format in their respective zones, with the winners of each advancing to the semi-finals.
Zone One winners, Our Lady of the Angels (OLA), had similar 4-0 wins over Lannamans' and St Theresa's, before edging both Emmanuel Christian Academy and Wolmer's 2-1, then finishing off with a 3-2 win over Bright Beginnings to advance to the semis.
In Zone Two, Quest steamrolled their opponents, beating Ardenne 3-0, Dunrobin 5-0, Holy Childhood 3-0, and MC Bryan 6-0, before Mona stopped their winning streak in a game that ended 2-2. Quest advanced by virtue of scoring more goals, as Mona had also completed the zone unbeaten with the same number of points.
Portmore Missionary advanced from Zone Three with wins over Mavisville 4-0, Vaz Prep 4-1, and a 1-1 tie with Hydel.
St Catherine Prep also had an unbeaten run to the semis, getting by Suthermere 5-0, Excel 6-1, Trafalgar Christian 2-0, and St Andrew 2-0.
Portmore Missionary edged OLA 3-2 in one semi-final, while Quest outdid St Catherine 3-0 in the other.
OLA went on to claim third place with a 5-2 win over St Catherine, after which Quest claimed top spot in the final.
Wolmer's were judged the best-dressed team.
