THE EDITOR, Sir:
I wish to bring to the attention of our Minister of Education, the Honourable Ronald Thwaites, the scourge of indiscipline in schools.
Recently, indiscipline has been on the rise in many institutions and of such it is severely hindering learning.
Indiscipline results from lack of home training, peer pressure, the type of music children are listening to and families with low self-esteem.
It seems as if children want to run Jamaica. Adults need to take a stand against wrongdoers and work hand in hand with principals, teachers and the police or else Jamaica will descend into lawlessness. Our future will be dismal.
I therefore implore the Ministry of Education to take strong measures and reintroduce corporal punishment in schools.
