Lou Reed dies at 71
Legendary musician Lou Reed, best known for his work as guitarist, singer and songwriter for the Velvet Underground, passed away on Sunday at 71 years old, six months after undergoing a liver transplant in May.
Following his surgery, Lou assured fans on his website that he felt "bigger and stronger" than ever before, but was rushed to hospital because of complications in late June.

Reed had a profound impact on American culture, introducing rock and pop art to mainstream music, and his work with Andy Warhol is also hailed as one of the most important collaborations ever.
IOJ pays homage to 'Mama Joy'
The Institute of Jamaica (IOJ) has expressed regret at the passing of community leader, Joy Baker, affectionately called Mama Joy, last Friday.
She has been a stalwart caretaker for homeless at-risk youths in the surrounding communities.
Last year, the IOJ recognised her 40 years of service in the communities neighbouring the institute's East Street head office in downtown Kingston.
Mama Joy was nominated for the First Caribbean Bank's Unsung Hero recognition and received the award during a special ceremony on October 15, 2010 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
Conrad Murray released
Conrad Murray, the disgraced physician who was sentenced to four years in jail for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson (who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009) was allowed to walk free yesterday morning after spending less than two years behind bars, because of good behaviour.
The 60 year-old doctor was secretly released through a back exit of the Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles, USA, as it was believed there could be a "safety issue" because a group of Jackson fans were camped outside waiting for him.
Murray's lawyer, Valerie Wass, told reporters outside the prison that her client was anxious to "hug his family" and he was planning to get his medical licences reinstated in California, Texas and Nevada, so he can resume his medical career.
More trouble for Chris Brown
Chris Brown allegedly made a homophobic slur before attacking a man.
The 24 year-old singer, who is still on probation for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, was arrested and charged with felony assault after a man accused the star of punching him in the face outside the W Hotel in Washington DC at 4.30 a.m. on Sunday.
The alleged victim, who may need surgery as his nose is broken, told gossip website TMZ.com that Chris went "nuts" when he and a male friend rushed over to get in a photo that the R&B star was taking with two women.
A law-enforcement source claimed that the R&B star said "I'm not into this gay st, I'm into boxing", before punching the victim.
The man, who later said he didn't understand why Brown would be "so homophobic," is planning to press charges, but said he would have accepted an apology from the singer at the scene.
