The late Dr Maurice William Facey is the 2013 recipient of the Project Management Institute Jamaica Doctor Bird Chapter (JDBC) Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award is to be handed out at this year's staging of the JDBC's International Project Management Day Jamaica Chapter Award Ceremony and Cocktail Reception on November 7 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.
The award is the first of its kind to be presented by the JDBC, and is awarded to Facey in recognition of his achievements and contribution to national development and building.
"This year, the Jamaica Chapter will celebrate the munificent contributions of the late Dr the Honourable Maurice Facey to nation building," said Craig Perue, president of the chapter.
"Facey was a great dreamer and builder. His command and deploy-ment of the principles of project, programme, and portfolio manage-ment to innovate and improve productivity deserve to be lauded and should be used as an example and emulated by the current and next generation of project managers."
Project Management Day is observed in several countries by chapters of the internationally recognised Project Management Institute, which is based in the United States.
