THE EDITOR, Sir:
I wonder if the latest innovation to lure men away from their families has not gone up too well with the God of all the earth. I wonder if the Sunday afternoon delusion, robbing children of lunch money and bus fares, is being nipped in the bud by the Heavenly Father to whom we pray in our national anthem?
As the CEO of the promoting company has been quoted as observing: "This was an act of God." Rain is not a precondition for a lightning strike, but it is worth noting that 'exciting family entertainment' was interrupted on a lovely Sunday afternoon by a bolt out of the blue.
Meanwhile, we continue to lament over the breakdown of values, failed homes and the failed State, and uncontrollable children running amok in the city centre and on YouTube.
I wonder what would become of our homes and country if more sires were to stay home and become fathers and friends to their children.
