THE EDITOR, Sir:
We claim to be a nation of Christian values, but we ignore the major value that is contributing to the brutishness and callousness overwhelming our society.
Our churches, politicians and society are quick to condemn homosexuality, murder, corruption and indecency, but where is the public outcry and disgust against irresponsible men and women who bring children into the world that they knowingly cannot afford to feed, clothe or educate?
Where is the voice of the preacher at the pulpit, the politician in Gordon House or the pious leaders in our society who are silent when unwanted children are abandoned to fend for themselves in our streets or abused by paedophiles, including dons?
There is no greater sin than having children that are thrown on the garbage heap of poverty or abandoned to a life dependent on government goodwill and charitable organisations.
