PORT MARIA, St Mary:
A MAN was detained by police in St Mary Wednesday night in connection with the murder of Special Constable Arianna Henry, who was shot and killed outside her Portmore home last Friday.
According to the parish's commanding officer, Superintendent Dean Johnson, the man was arrested in the Fort George district of Annotto Bay.
"The St Catherine South Police division has been contacted, and they are working in conjunction with the St Mary CID and the Major Investigation Task Force to complete investigations on this matter," he told The Gleaner.
Superintendent Johnson said other persons were detained at the same location and are also being interviewed and questioned.
He said the man has not been charged, but is currently being interviewed in relation to his involvement in Henry's killing.
According to police, Henry was standing outside her home in Portmore, St Catherine, with another police officer who had come to visit her, when a Toyota Corolla motor car containing armed men drove up to the house.
Four men came out of the vehicle, opened fire and shot Henry in the abdomen. One of the gunmen was shot and later turned up for treatment at the Spanish Town Hospital. He is in police custody.
The special constable's death brings the total number of police officers murdered this year to seven.
