Tournament director, LIME Cup Golf tournament, David Mais, said he is expecting a competitive and exciting championship at this year's fifth staging of the event which is set to tee off on Sunday at the Constant Spring Golf Club.
Six teams are down to participate in this year's championship and they will compete in a round-robin format over five rounds at the Constant Spring, Cinnamon Hill and Caymanas grounds, with the finals taking place on November 24.
Each team consists of 16 male players in four handicap flights, and four female players vying for top honours via a match-play format, which will be broadcast to 23 Caribbean countries on SportsMax and into North America on CEEN.
"It has generated a lot more interest in the golf community in recent years," said Mais.
"We will have several Jamaica junior and senior representatives taking part in this year's tournament, and so, this will certainly bring a lot of excitement to the championship," he said.
He added: "I think that we certainly can't name the winner from the beginning because it is going to be very close. Some of the teams that have finished close to the bottom in past years have recruited some strong players, and so, it will be even more competitive."
The participants in this year's competition include national captain Sean Morris, along with fellow national Mark Newnham, Radcliff Knibbs, Jodi Barrow, Rochelle Prince, as well as national junior players Kai Harris and Tiana Cruz.
SportsMax, along with new sponsors Red Stripe, will be hosting a practice tournament in aid of Diageo's Learning for Life Foundation on Saturday, November 23. The Springs of Constant Spring are the defending champions.
The other competing teams are Advantage General of Montego Bay, Appleton Estate Buccaneers, SportsMax MaxPak, LIME Lions, and debutants Red Stripe Legends.
SportsMax made a special presentation to LIME for their unwavering and committed support of golf in Jamaica as the title sponsors of the tournament over the last four years during Wednesday's press launch, which was held at the Audi Showroom on Oxford Road in St Andrew.
