THE EDITOR, Sir:
Whenever I go to commercial banks, I'm usually filled with trepidation.
The toxic combination of extortionate bank fees and long queues renders the customer either resigned to fate or boiling with anger. And let's not talk about the misnomer called the 'customer service desk'. Shoot me already.
Despite this, I was pleased with the level of service of Ms Shashana Bernard, an insurance adviser in the OMNI department at National Commercial Bank's Half-Way Tree branch.
Ms Bernard was not only courteous, but she went above and beyond the call of duty. She walked the floor and didn't let up till I was able to complete my transaction. She was sincere, gave regular updates, and made me feel as if she was interested in making my banking experience smooth and enjoyable.
Her standard of service was exemplary and, for a moment, made me feel less aggrieved or angry about the banking sector's penchant for gouging customers.
Take a bow, Ms Bernard. You'll go far if you keep it up.
