Two former champions, Garvey Maceo High and Frome Technical High, will meet in the first semi-final of the 2013 Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/LIME daCosta Cup today at St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) in Santa Cruz. Kick-off time is 3 p.m.

Garvey Maceo, the 2007 winners, topped quarter-final Group B with seven points after scoring wins over Port Antonio High (2-1) and Manchester High, 2-0. They drew 0-0 with Muschett High.

Frome who won the Cup in 2003 edged into the last four from Group A with five points. They drew 1-1 with Green Island and 0-0 with group winners STETHS before defeating Marcus Garvey 1-0. STETHS won the group with seven points and will play Port Antonio High in the second semi-final tomorrow at Jarrett Park.

slight favourites

The teams have been closely matched in the 2013 daCosta Cup but Garvey Maceo, based on their quarter-final form, should start slight favourites to reach the final. In the quarter-finals they scored four goals with one against while Frome hit the back of the net twice and conceded one goal.

Both semi-finals will be play-to-finish. If the scores are equal at full time, extra time will be played, followed by penalty kicks if necessary. Extra time shall be two halves of 10 minutes each.
