Dupont Primary student bags three titles at AJ Badminton

Shezelle McTyson, a student of Dupont Primary, walked away with the Under-13 and Under-15 Girls Singles titles at the All Jamaica Badminton Championships last weekend, at the Constant Spring Golf Club's Badminton Hall in upper St Andrew.

McTyson, the top seed, defeated Karie Dawson in the Under-13 final, 21-13 and 21-7. She returned later in the Under-15 final and also defeated Dawson, 21-9 and 21-7.

Then McTyson teamed with Shantae Smith and the pair defeated Sharon Chai and Anna Morrison 21-7 and 21-8 in the Under-15 girls doubles final.

In the boys Under-11 final, top seed Zane Reid of Sts Peter and Paul Preparatory easily defeated Tristan Martin 21-0 and 21-7. Number one Rhys Reid captured the Under-13 Boys Singles title with a 21-14 and 21-13 win over Adam Taylor.

Top seed Shane Wilson defeated Isaac Roberts 21-10 and 21-6 in the Under-15 boys final. The Under-15 Boys Doubles title was won by Justin Taylor and Isaac Roberts who defeated Oshane Newland and Adam Taylor 27-25 and 21-17.

Tijae Hines and Zane Reid took the Under-11 Boys Doubles title over the pair of William Smith-Wilson and Tristan Martin, 21-5 and 21-9.

Zane Reid and Rhys Reid defeated William Smith-Wilson and Tristan Martin 21-5 and 21-2 in the Under-13 boys doubles final.

In the Under-15 mixed doubles final, Shane Wilson and Alana Bailey defeated Jordan Flimm and Garrick Green, 21-5 and 21-4.

The All Jamaica Badminton Championships continues this weekend in the older age groups.
